Water education
Raising awareness among Californians about how the water industry actually works.
The California African American Water Education Foundation (CAAWEF) is a statewide, non-profit water education organization. CAAWEF’s mission is to catalyze deeper investments into the water systems that serve, employ, and conduct business with Black Californians. We accomplish this by helping public officials understand the impacts of public policy decisions on California’s African American water ratepayers.
Ten directors govern the foundation. They come from water agencies, from business, and from community organizations. They are spread across the state on purpose.
Water is regional in California. A board drawn from one region would only see one set of problems.
Every household pays. Not every household is heard.
