CAAWEF educates the African American community about important water issues to ensure their voice is included in local, regional and state policy discussions and particularly on those policies that impact them.
We believe that the African American community deserves to have access to safe, clean, affordable drinking water and wastewater services.
While most Californian take access to clean safe water for granted, in some areas, African Americans have never had access to adequate water and wastewater infrastructure. In other areas, people struggle with high water rates, poor water quality and aging infrastructure.
CAAWEF believes that creating an equitable water future for African Americans in California means providing all people with access to clean safe water at a price they can afford.
